The Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has revealed a substantial prize money distribution for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, with the champion projected to receive USD 125 million (approximately R2,277,287,500 based on current exchange rates).

Every team from Africa, including Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, Wydad Casablanca, and Esperance, is assured USD 9.55 million (around R174 million).

In a statement released on Wednesday, FIFA outlined the financial structure: “Consistent with the budgetary guidelines for the FIFA Club World Cup™ and following fruitful talks with essential stakeholders, such as the European Club Association, along with the approval of the FIFA Council, FIFA has confirmed the allocation model for its new club tournament, which features USD 1 billion in prize money for the 32 participating clubs, coupled with an innovative global solidarity model.”

FIFA President Gianni Infantino elaborated: “The distribution model for the FIFA Club World Cup represents the peak of club football and introduces the largest prize pool ever for a football tournament, encompassing a seven-match group stage and playoff format, with a potential prize of USD 125 million for the champions.”

“Additionally, beyond the prize money designated for participating teams, there will be an unmatched solidarity investment initiative aimed at contributing an extra 250 million dollars to club football on a global scale. This solidarity effort will significantly bolster our ongoing endeavors to make football universally appealing.”

“Moreover, FIFA will reinvest all revenue from this tournament back into club football and will not retain any profits, nor will it utilize FIFA’s reserves, which are allocated for global football development across the 211 FIFA Member Associations.”
