Datagram Introduces Decentralized Backend for Improved Scalability of DePIN Networks

Datagram has unveiled its Core Substrate, a decentralized connectivity baselayer aimed at enhancing scalable, real-world decentralized applications and DePIN infrastructure.

On April 3, Datagram announced its Core Substrate, providing developers with a live, plug-and-play alternative to centralized cloud services, as reported exclusively by crypto.news. This feature is now operational and in ongoing partnership discussions with leading blockchain ecosystems.

The innovative platform empowers developers to launch tailored DePIN networks and real-world applications on a dedicated, scalable node network, all while avoiding the complexities usually linked to Web3 integration.

The ‘foundation’ for other DePINs

This new substrate positions Datagram as a foundational layer within the DePIN landscape, akin to platforms like Cosmos SDK or Polkadot’s Substrate, yet uniquely crafted for immediate deployment.

Possible use cases encompass content delivery networks, decentralized SaaS, AI inference, and multiplayer gaming synchronization.

“What we really are is a substrate and foundation upon which other DePINs can be built and can operate,” stated Jason Brink, co-founder of Datagram. “When you think of Ethereum, you think of token launches. When you think of Solana, you think of meme coins. When you think of DePIN, you should think of Datagram.”

Cloud alternative offering privacy and cost savings

Datagram’s infrastructure serves as a decentralized alternative to conventional cloud providers like AWS. Applications can transition services such as file storage, distributed compute, or real-time communication layers to the network, achieving cost reductions of 70–90% and eliminating vendor lock-in. This architecture can be effectively marketed to businesses that may not have extensive blockchain expertise, as all on-chain activities are automated and abstracted.

A notable innovation is Datagram’s capability to manage real-time, UDP-based communications across a decentralized network, enabling functionalities such as video calling, voice chat, multiplayer gaming, and AI compute workloads with minimal latency.
