Titus Considers Moving Abroad – Sportswire
Devin Titus of Stellenbosch aims for a more ambitious goal than his former teammates Deano van Rooyen, Iqraam Rayners, and Jayden Adams—he dreams of playing on the international stage.
Van Rooyen, Rayners, and Adams have all advanced to the top two PSL Betway Premiership teams: Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, respectively.
Van Rooyen was the first to leave Stellenbosch, signing with Pirates at the season’s start, followed closely by Rayners, who joined Sundowns.
Sundowns strengthened their squad by acquiring the influential Adams during the January transfer window, where he has made a notable impact as they approach an extraordinary eighth league title.
In contrast, Titus, an essential part of Steve Barker’s youthful Stellenbosch squad, harbors ambitions that extend beyond the local league. The team had a remarkable run in their inaugural CAF Confederation Cup campaign, reaching the semi-finals before being knocked out by Simba last week.

“I aspire to play overseas at the highest level,” shared Titus, who has impressively scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 47 matches for Stellenbosch this season. “I’m grateful to Stellenbosch for everything they’ve given me. I wish to give back, and they understand that my ultimate goal is abroad.”
He added, “[Nevertheless,] I believe every young player shares that aspiration, and I hope to achieve it.”
While Titus and Stellenbosch concluded their Confederation Cup journey in the semi-finals, Van Rooyen faced a similar fate with Orlando Pirates in the CAF Champions League, losing to Pyramids.
In contrast, Adams and Rayners are set to compete in the Champions League final after Mamelodi Sundowns advanced against the defending champions Al Ahly on away goals. Sundowns will face Pyramids in a two-legged final later this month and early June.
Titus extended his best wishes to Adams and Rayners, who were instrumental in Stellenbosch’s Carling Knockout victory last season—the club’s first major trophy—along with their third-place finish in the Betway Premiership.
“They are my friends. I hope they can win and make South Africa proud, especially since they hail from Stellenbosch,” Titus remarked.
