Tshwane Electricity Update: Theresa Park Substation Now Operational, Partial Power Restored

Pretoria – Some regions in Tshwane that have been without power since Workers’ Day are beginning to see electricity restored.

On Saturday, (2 May 2025), the City of Tshwane announced: “Tshwane’s Energy and Electricity team has been actively working to restore the power supply to areas served by the Theresa Park Secondary Substation and has achieved significant progress with the repairs.

“Most of these areas have been experiencing outages since Thursday, (1 May 2025), due to vandalism and cable theft at the Theresa Park Substation.”

The City of Tshwane reported that its Energy and Electricity team has successfully re-energized the substation, restoring power to the following regions:

  • Nina Park
  • Eldorette
  • Theresapark
  • Dorandia
  • Tileba
  • Florauna

“However, some parts of Ninapark, Heatherdale, Hesteapark, and Winternest are still facing outages as repairs on the jumper cables are ongoing,” stated the City of Tshwane.

“The entire Clarina area remains offline due to multiple cable faults affecting the network.

“The team is currently on-site to address these issues.”

The City of Tshwane reassured residents that efforts to restore power to the affected areas would persist as repairs continue.

“Power restoration for most of the remaining areas is expected by the evening of Sunday, (4 May 2025),” indicated the City of Tshwane.

“We apologize for the inconvenience caused and will keep residents informed on the latest updates.”
