Tragic Mother’s Day in Durban: Couple Found Dead Following Flat Fire in Chatsworth

Durban – A couple has sadly lost their lives in a fire at their apartment on Pisces Avenue in Chatsworth, situated south of Durban.

While speaking from the scene on Mother’s Day, Sunday, 11 May 2025, Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, reported that the couple died during the early hours when their flat caught fire.

He noted that responders from ALS Paramedics and the Ethekwini Fire Department were dispatched to the emergency call.

Jamieson stated that once the fire was extinguished, firefighters entered the building and found the bodies of what are believed to be a couple, described as “a male and a female, both in their 50s.”

The South African Police Service was also on the scene.
