Nottingham Forest Provides Update on Taiwo Awoniyi Following ‘Urgent Surgery,’ Highlighting Marinakis’ ‘Deep Concern’

NOTTINGHAM FOREST has shared that Taiwo Awoniyi is “showing positive progress” after undergoing “emergency surgery.”

The 27-year-old sustained a severe abdominal injury during the 2-2 draw with Leicester on Sunday at City Ground and was promptly taken to the hospital on Monday.

The forward collided with the goalpost in the 87th minute while attempting to take advantage of a brilliant pass from Anthony Elanga on the right.

Despite requiring prolonged treatment, the Nigeria international managed to continue playing.
