Horse Racing Insights: “Set for a Big Win After Quick Climb in Rankings” – Templegate’s 9-2 NAP at Haydock
TEMPLEGATE is optimistic about securing some winners for Saturday’s races.
Place your bets by clicking on the odds below.
AMERICAN AFFAIR (3.30 Haydock, nap)
This horse has made significant strides over the past year. A year ago, the Jim Goldie-trained sprinter had a rating of just 80, now he stands at 105. He’s begun this season impressively, winning handily at Musselburgh and York. His latest victory was remarkable; he sliced through a competitive field to seize the lead and coasting towards the finish. With a good position from stall 10, he thrives in a fast-paced race.
TEROOMM (1.50 Haydock, nb)
This horse showed impressive abilities by overcoming a penalty at Thirsk recently. Despite lacking experience on his handicap debut, he demonstrated remarkable determination. Top jockey Silvestre de Sousa excels at managing this course.
BIG MOJO (3.00 Haydock, treble)
This horse returned to action with a win in a Group 3 at Ascot last month. He has strengthened over the winter and enters this race with top-quality form.

BEVERLEY
2.10
ARTISTA rebounded from a lackluster debut by leading throughout the same distance last time.
While still somewhat inexperienced, she finished strongly, indicating there’s much more to come.
She’s set to outperform several similarly rated rivals in a competitive race.
Ali Shuffle has consistently achieved similar ratings in her three victories, including a win at this track and distance.
Her standard is set by her recent win at Chester, which deserves respect.
Argentine Tango finished behind Ali Shuffle on debut but has shown marked improvement since, most recently achieving second at Carlisle while carrying a penalty.
She could further progress in this challenging race.
Angel Numbers won comfortably in a modest race at Chepstow on debut, and although she was somewhat raw, she may exceed that performance here.
2.45
NAVAL LIGHT could aid Wathnan and Karl Burke in securing back-to-back victories with a promising newcomer.
Shareholder overcame inexperience last year to win on debut. This year’s entrant was acquired for a striking 360,000gns during a breeze-up.
He’s bred for early readiness, and Burke is known for preparing newcomers effectively.
Raakeb sets the form after comfortably winning on debut at Ripon.
Although bred for longer distances, Richard Hannon’s team is in peak condition, suggesting he could be competitive.
Old Is Gold showed solid form on debut at Ascot, making this race appear impressive.
He should show significant improvement under Andrew Balding, who has had a strong campaign so far.
Tropical Dreamer won his debut at this course last month; however, that form seems modest and needs adapting.
GOODWOOD
1.30
RARE CHANGE raced successfully at his first try at this distance at York 10 days prior.
Thanks to Warren Fentiman’s claim, he’s effectively 2lb lower and remains untested at this distance as he seeks a hat-trick.
He’s closely matched with Best Rate based on their recent performances, but Richard Hughes’ improver won comfortably with some reserve.
Power Fizz has won two of his three handicap races, suffering his one defeat by just a head.
He should continue to develop with his strong connections.
Bob Mali had a challenging race at Chester last time but can do much better, making him an interesting runner coming back to a seven-furlong distance.
Pellitory won a robust race at Newmarket before faltering in a Listed event.
He deserves another chance after dropping in class.
3.15
VICTORIA HARBOUR may have disappointed on her debut at Wolves but found her form to win impressively at Wetherby last month.
She displayed impressive grit after initially appearing beat, and her pedigree suggests she could be hard to overtake if she finds the lead.
Rhapsody won convincingly on her debut at Windsor last year but raced too keenly in her first seasonal return, not performing to her potential. She should do better back on turf.
Queen Of Thieves had an unusual race in the Cheshire Oaks, where she significantly underperformed.
This result doesn’t reflect her true ability, and being a full sister to Cracksman raises hopes for her comeback.
Music Piece finished closely at Sandown last time, despite trying to recover from a slow pace. There’s more to come from her.
Perfect Your Craft won her only start last season and could offer substantial value from a robust stable.
CURRAGH
3.40
FIELD OF GOLD can bounce back from an unlucky second in the 2,000 Guineas earlier this month.
This striking grey was left with too much to do by Kieran Shoemark at Newmarket and finished with plenty in reserve.
He likely would have won without rider error, and Juddmonte’s faith in the reliable Colin Keane is a wise choice.
Cosmic Year bolsters Juddmonte’s chances in this race.
He has significant potential, but this Classic might come too early for him.
Officer seems to be Aidan O’Brien’s leading entry but still has much to prove at this elite level.
Speedy Hotazhell was a Group 1 winner last season and deserves consideration among the field.
Expanded has been overlooked by Ryan Moore, yet a comeback here wouldn’t be surprising.
HAYDOCK
1.15
DASHING DARCY exhibited strong performances in tough mile handicaps last season for Roger Varian.
His stable debut at Doncaster fell short, as he missed the start and faced trouble at a critical point.
We can anticipate considerable improvement from him.
Great Chieftain returned to form with a decisive victory at Newmarket two weeks ago.
He’s up 6lb but remains relatively unexposed overall and benefits from William Buick’s guidance.
No Retreat has consistently finished in the top three in all outings.
He’s been progressing well at Meydan and should continue to improve, particularly with a fast pace to follow.
Candonomore aims for a hat-trick after two easy Class 5 wins this season.
This race will be tougher, but he tends to respond well under pressure.
1.50
TEROOMM has impressed with two straightforward wins this year, building on a promising all-weather debut.
He demonstrated commendable toughness at Thirsk, and an initial mark of 90 seems quite reasonable based on his novice performances.
He likely has more potential to unlock and could be a hidden Group-level contender within a handicap.
King Casper had a stellar start to his handicap career, winning decisively by three lengths at Newmarket last month.
A 9lb rise seems justified, and he might have substantial progress ahead.
Afentiko won his only handicap start at Kempton last September before finishing second in a French Listed race a month later.
He faced Group 3 competition on his return but should bounce back at this lower level.
Dixieland Blues has been a determined competitor across three starts, finally scoring at Southwell last month.
This marks his turf/handicap debut off a reasonable mark, and he should continue to improve.
2.25
RUNNING LION sits 7lb ahead on ratings, setting a significant benchmark as she drops further in class.
She was a Group 2 winner at Royal Ascot last year and finished second in the Group 1 Prix de l’Opera, marking her peak performance to date.
This form is a considerable step ahead of her rivals, and she should improve from her seasonal debut at Newmarket this month.
Diamond Rain dazzled with a Listed race win at Newbury on her second outing.
Though she fell short twice afterward, she still holds immense promise.
Tasmania has had an inconsistent career, but Sir Mark Prescott’s track record with mares is commendable.
She stays well and should at least place.
3.00
BIG MOJO was an exceptional juvenile last year, finishing second in the Flying Childers at Doncaster and achieving a fantastic fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.
He carries high expectations, often compared to Big Evs, but he achieved a career-best in an Ascot Group 3 upon his return.
He appears to have matured over the winter and could evolve into a Group 1 star under Mick Appleby.
Symbol Of Honour shone in a Newbury Listed race last week, and he’s a formidable contender based on his current form.
Arizona Blaze has excelled in two sprint outings this season, most recently at Chantilly in a Group 3.
He showcases impressive cruising speed and could be dangerous if allowed a solo run.
Powerful Glory remains unbeaten in two attempts, including a victory in the Mill Reef at Newbury.
He might need this race but could emerge as a standout in this group by the end of the year.
3.30
AMERICAN AFFAIR has consistently improved under Jim Goldie, coming into this race with two seamless victories in handicaps.
He travels well and is ready for this challenge; given his steady progress, the grade increase should be manageable.
Rumstar produced a noteworthy figure defeating a familiar rival, She’s Quality, in a Newmarket Group 3 on his return.
He’s closely matched with the selection from an earlier handicap at Doncaster while facing him on 9lb better terms, providing a solid chance.
Mgheera made a robust debut for Ed Walker, winning a French Group 3 two weeks ago.
She might show additional improvement after her transition to a new stable.
Starlust delivered a remarkable victory in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint but may need this run as Royal Ascot is the key target.
