Sizekhaya Obtains 8-Year National Lottery License in South Africa
Johannesburg – Sizekhaya Holdings has been awarded the Fourth National Lottery and Sports Pools licence from the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition in South Africa.
This licence, which will remain valid for eight years, is set to commence on 1 June 2026, marking a major milestone for the consortium.
The Goldrush Group, in which Sizekhaya possesses a 59.4% stake, holds a 50% share in Sizekhaya.
To adhere to regulatory requirements, Sizekhaya will allocate shares to a government entity, thereby reducing Goldrush’s ownership to 40%.
As the new operator, Sizekhaya will oversee lottery ticket sales, manage prize distributions, and contribute to the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF), ensuring funds are allocated to deserving causes across South Africa.
The selection of Sizekhaya – which means “We are coming home” – emphasizes the expertise of Goldrush’s management team and its international partner, Genlot, a prominent name in lottery services.
Following this announcement, the cautionary notice released on 8 May 2025 has been lifted, allowing for regular trading of the company’s securities.
This development enhances Sizekhaya’s position as a key player in South Africa’s gaming sector, committed to innovation, transparency, and social responsibility through the National Lottery.
