JMPD Apprehends Three Individuals for Gang-Related Crimes in Riverlea, Eldorado Park, and Westbury
Johannesburg – The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has arrested three male suspects linked to serious gang-related crimes in the Riverlea, Eldorado Park, and Westbury areas.
As reported by the JMPD, the suspects, aged between 27 and 40, were captured by the Tactical Response Unit on Sunday, 22 June 2025.
JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla detailed the circumstances surrounding the arrests: “Our officers received vital information concerning three individuals who have been menacing local communities and are sought for multiple significant gang-related offenses.”
Superintendent Fihla also mentioned: “Intelligence indicated that the suspects were en route to the Klipspruit shooting range to test three unlicensed firearms, apparently aiming to target a local gang member in Eldorado Park.”
“JMPD officers swiftly collaborated with the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Eldorado Park to act on the intelligence received.”
The JMPD unit was dispatched to Klipspruit to observe the suspects.
They witnessed the suspects entering the shooting range, testing the firearms, and subsequently leaving the facility.
“A meticulously planned takedown operation was executed at the intersection of Saint Francis and Saint Mark Road in Klipspruit West Extension 2, leading to the arrest of all three suspects,” reported Superintendent Fihla.
“During the operation, officers seized three unlicensed firearms that had their serial numbers removed, along with three additional magazines and ammunition.”

The suspects are currently in custody at Kliptown Police Station and are expected to appear in court soon.
Superintendent Fihla indicated that the silver Polo involved in the criminal activity has been confiscated and taken to the SAPS Lenasia vehicle pound for further investigation.
In a statement about the incident, JMPD Chief of Police, Commissioner Patrick Jaca, commented: “This successful operation underscores our unwavering commitment to eliminating criminal elements and protecting our communities.”
“Our officers demonstrated outstanding bravery and dedication, and we will continue our relentless efforts to remove illegal firearms and gang-related activity from our city.”
