Springboks Launch New and Classic Jerseys to Celebrate 30th Anniversary
SA Rugby and its apparel partner Nike celebrate heritage and a national symbol with the remarkable new 2025 Springbok kit collection, launched on Tuesday.
A freshly designed playing kit along with a nostalgic jersey pays tribute to the legacy of the 1995 Rugby World Cup champions, revealed exactly 30 years after Nelson Mandela awarded the Webb Ellis Cup to the Springbok captain.

The heritage jersey is modeled after the one worn by the Boks during their unforgettable 15-12 triumph against New Zealand at Ellis Park, while the new team jersey features elements inspired by the King Protea in its striking collar design.

The playing kit retains a strong connection to heritage with a clean, sophisticated design that honors the classic green and gold, featuring subtle references to historic achievements, blending the past, present, and future of the team into a cohesive design.
The innovative neckline is inspired by the protea, rooted in green yet elegantly ‘crowned’ by the leaves of the King Protea. Embedded within the collar are four stars, representing the team’s four Rugby World Cup victories, along with #ForeverGreenForeverGold.

Cutting-edge materials ensure the kit not only honors its heritage but also showcases modern advancements in sportswear, seamlessly integrating innovative fabric technologies.
These materials enhance breathability, flexibility, and durability for players while being lightweight and resilient. The kit also incorporates moisture-wicking properties to keep players cool and dry during intense matches.
The alternate jersey is entirely white with a Protea collar in traditional bottle green, complemented by a training and off-field collection for passionate supporters.
The Protea theme is vividly depicted in the pre-match warm-up jersey, featuring a starburst of King Protea buds from a bird’s-eye view.
The recreation of the 1995 jersey is crafted from classic cotton and emphasizes the iconic badge of the Springbok leaping over a wreath of proteas.
“Nike has excelled in creating a kit range that honors the Springboks’ traditions while fusing modern design elements,” remarked Rian Oberholzer, CEO of SA Rugby.
“We also aim to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1995 victory, a pivotal moment for rugby and South Africa.
“We believe the replica kit, along with an extensive range of lifestyle apparel and fan-centric accessories, will empower supporters to showcase their pride wherever they go—especially on Bok Fridays.”
The home and alternate jerseys, alongside the lifestyle collection, will be available starting Wednesday (25 June) at Nike stores, leading retailers, and online.
