Tshwane Metro Police Arrest 64 Impaired Drivers During Weekend Operation
Pretoria – This past weekend, the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) arrested 64 motorists for “driving under the influence.”
The TMPD announced that these incidents took place on Friday and Saturday.
Since early June, more than 200 people have been taken into custody for drunk driving as part of TMPD’s crackdown on road rule violations throughout Tshwane.
“During the weekend from Friday, June 20 to Saturday, June 21, 2025, a total of 64 impaired drivers were apprehended in various locations throughout Tshwane,” the TMPD reported.
Chief Commissioner YCR Faro commended the metro police for their diligent work in capturing offenders and warned that those who drive while impaired will encounter serious repercussions.
“If you’ve been drinking, do not drive. Choose Uber or taxi services for your celebrations; please exercise responsibility,” she urged.
“The Tshwane Metro Police Department maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against driving while intoxicated.”
