Bay Strengthens Team with Mtshali Addition

Richards Bay has officially signed former Sekhukhune United midfielder Lindo Mtshali, as reported by Sportswire.

Mtshali joins a fresh trio alongside Thabani Zuke and Gabadinho Mhango. Zuke comes from Golden Arrows, while Mhango, who previously played for Arrows, was acquired from Marumo Gallants. Sportswire detailed these player acquisitions a few weeks ago.

Interestingly, all three players share a similar football history. Although they have played for Golden Arrows, their time there did not overlap.

Mtshali and Zuke were teammates at Abafana Bes’Thende, and Mtshali also shared the pitch with Mhango at Moroka Swallows before departing at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Mtshali’s Move to Richards Bay

Richards Bay has been interested in Mtshali for quite some time, with attention dating back to the 2023/24 season during his stint at Swallows. This transfer was expected, especially after Swallows sold their slot to Gallants, leading to Mhango joining Bloemfontein alongside the club.

An academy graduate from Orlando Pirates, Mtshali moved to Sekhukhune last season to pursue more game time. However, he departed before fulfilling his contract, securing his clearance to facilitate his move to Richards Bay.

Memorable Highlights for Mtshali

Mtshali is remembered for his two key goals for Swallows during the 2022/23 season against Gallants, which significantly contributed to the Limpopo side’s relegation. This victory earned Swallows a place in the top eight.

Additionally, he received the final Goal of the Month for his stunning strike in May during the 2023/24 season while playing for Swallows. This technical brilliance from outside the box in their win over Stellenbosch FC highlighted his exceptional skill, earning him a well-deserved accolade and a R7,000 cash prize from the league’s then-sponsors, DStv.
