Music Concert Scheduled for Chiefs’ Toyota Cup Event
A music concert is set to elevate the ambiance of the Toyota Cup match between Kaizer Chiefs and Ghana’s Asante Kotoko, taking place next month at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The Toyota Cup, a unique pre-season event that first took place last year in Bloemfontein, will be held at the iconic Durban venue on 26 July.
Understanding that football is a vital aspect of entertainment, the event will kick off with a music concert showcasing popular local artists, along with a curtain-raiser match featuring the Kaizer Chiefs Legends versus the Zulu Kingdom Legends.
eThekwini Mayor Councillor Cyril Xaba highlighted that the announcement of the Toyota Cup emphasizes the City’s capability to host significant sporting events.
“This further solidifies our status as the premier location for events, conferences, and entertainment,” remarked Mayor Xaba. “We want to reassure both teams and their supporters that we are entirely ready to host them. We will take all necessary steps to ensure a successful event.”

While the lineup for the concert has yet to be announced, it is anticipated that the famous DJ Tira, a Chiefs aficionado, along with Big Zulu and MaWhoo, will be performing.
The municipality expressed, “This event is poised to bring significant economic advantages to the city and generate job opportunities for local residents.”
The Moses Mabhida Stadium serves as an additional venue for the Chiefs, who have played numerous league matches in Durban for almost a decade and will continue this trend in the upcoming season.
Recently, the Chiefs ended a decade-long trophy drought at this venue, clinching victory against Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final on 10 May.
