Huawei Boosts Productivity and Employment in South Africa While Preparing Youth for a Digital Future

Johannesburg – In a recorded address to Huawei South Africa Connect 2025, President Cyril Ramaphosa emphasized the crucial role of the company in driving national development through technology.

“We are in a time of rapid technological change,” he noted, pointing out that digital innovation is reshaping lives, job opportunities, and interactions across South Africa.

The President highlighted Huawei’s longstanding partnership with the nation, particularly in improving rural connectivity through its Digital Village Initiative and equipping youth through the Huawei ICT Academy.

“Huawei’s initiatives are enhancing productivity and service delivery, while also generating jobs and preparing our youth for future challenges,” he stated.

Huawei’s solutions have transformed critical sectors such as government services, transport, energy, and finance, while also benefiting healthcare, education, logistics, and mining through advancements in AI, cloud computing, and smart connectivity.

These innovations address systemic challenges and create new opportunities for growth.

Ramaphosa praised the conference as a venue to strengthen collaborations and advocate for a “connected, inclusive, and prosperous South Africa.”

He expressed appreciation to Huawei for fostering innovation, asserting, “This is a space where innovation truly shapes the future.”

The event, held in Sandton, Johannesburg, gathered 4,000 attendees to collaborate on harnessing technology for equitable advancement, reflecting Huawei’s commitment to lasting socio-economic impact.
