Amid ongoing rumors, SunSport has reported that a new proposal will be extended to Russell ahead of the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix next month.

Russell indicated that if Verstappen were to leave Red Bull for Mercedes, it might result in teammate Kimi Antonelli making way for him.

As the British Grand Prix at Silverstone approaches, Russell stated: “I want to continue with Mercedes in the future. Toto has always supported me and upheld his promises.

“He has to make decisions that benefit his team, which includes me and all the dedicated individuals working at Mercedes.

“I’m not worried about this situation, as I don’t see myself going anywhere. My focus remains on racing, while my teammate is secondary.

“The timing for any contract discussions will be soon; I expect it to take place in the upcoming weeks, but we’ll see.

“There is interest, but I am loyal and committed to Mercedes.

“The chances of me not being at Mercedes next year are extremely low.”

“I want to explore pursuits outside of F1, which I am already starting with some testing, and I intend to participate in racing as well.”
