WAFCON: Banyana Secure 2-0 Victory Against Ghana in Group C Debut
Johannesburg – The current WAFCON champions secured a victory over the Ghana Black Queens in their opening match on Monday night at Morocco’s Honnuer Stadium in Oujda.
Linda Motlhalo initiated the scoring for Banyana Banyana with a penalty kick after a foul on Cesane during the first half.
Shortly after, Jermaine Seoposenwe enlarged the lead to two goals for the South Africans, assisted brilliantly by Lebohang Ramalepe.
Holding 73 percent possession in the first half, Banyana Banyana slowed their tempo in the second half.
Ghana took advantage of this, hitting the post twice but failing to score.
The few attempts they did make on target were skillfully saved by Banyana goalkeeper Andile Dlamini.
