City Unveils New Signings Ahead of Betway Premiership Season

Durban City, after achieving promotion, has made numerous new signings public via their social media channels, with several players previously highlighted by Sportswire.

The club has confirmed the signing of Brooklyn Poggenpoel, who will reunite with City coach Gavin Hunt. Poggenpoel came from SuperSport United before moving to Siwelele FC.

Experienced goalkeeper Darren Keet, who was released by relegated Cape Town City at the end of last season, has also joined Durban City.

Moreover, City has signed Trevor Mokwena from Motsepe Foundation Championship’s Upington City, along with Ghanaian international goalkeeper Fredrick Asare.

These acquisitions are a part of Durban City’s preparation for the upcoming Betway Premiership season, following their victory in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season. After their promotion, they named Gavin Hunt as the new coach, who was previously without a club after exiting SuperSport United in March.

Hunt and the new players are set to participate in the KZN Premier’s Cup this weekend in Richards Bay. Durban City will be taking on Milford FC in a playoff match at Umhlathuze Stadium on Saturday at 14:00. The victorious team will proceed to the semi-finals on Sunday, facing the winner of the playoff between Golden Arrows and AmaZulu, also scheduled for Saturday.
