Sundowns Announce Signing of Basadien – Sportswire

Mamelodi Sundowns have secured their initial signing of the transfer window: Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC.

This development follows the departure of seven players from the Brazilians at the end of June.

The 28-year-old left-back made his move to Stellenbosch in July 2022 after leaving Moroka Swallows. He marks the third player Sundowns have signed from Stellies over the last three transfer windows, joining Iqraam Rayners at the beginning of last season and Jayden Adams in January.

Basadien departs Stellenbosch with an impressive tally of 111 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing 18 assists. Notably, he netted one of his goals against Sundowns last season during the MTN8 semi-finals, where Stellies triumphed.

At Sundowns, he will encounter stiff competition for the left-back position, facing well-established players like Divine Lunga, Aubrey Modiba, Terrence Mashego, and Asekho Tiwani.
