Fatal Head-On Collision in Cato Manor Takes Life of Man in His 30s, Injures Four Others

Durban – A tragic head-on collision occurred on Bellair Road, close to the BP Garage in Cato Manor, resulting in one fatality and four individuals injured.

As per ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, they were alerted to the deadly incident shortly after 16:00 on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Upon arrival, paramedics found two severely wrecked vehicles on the road.

“A rapid triage was performed, and additional ambulances, along with Advanced Life Support paramedics and the Ethekwini Fire Department, were called in to provide assistance,” Jamieson reported.

“One person, believed to be in his 30s and driving a light motor vehicle, sustained critical injuries. Tragically, there was nothing paramedics could do, and he was pronounced dead at the scene,” Jamieson added.

“Four other patients received on-site treatment from Advanced Life Support paramedics before being transported to various hospitals in Durban for further medical attention.”

Authorities were at the scene; however, the identity of the deceased has yet to be disclosed pending notification of the next of kin.
