Sundowns Announces Lorch’s Exit – Sportswire

Mamelodi Sundowns has officially confirmed the departure of Thembinkosi Lorch from the club. He is set to join Wydad Casablanca in Morocco, where he played on loan last season.

The 32-year-old moved to Sundowns in January 2024 from Orlando Pirates. During his time at Wydad, Lorch reconnected with coach Rulani Mokwena towards the end of the season.

Lorch participated in the FIFA Club World Cup, playing a significant role across all competitions and scoring a goal against Juventus. Wydad faced stiff competition, including renowned teams like Juventus, Manchester City, and Al-Ain during the tournament.

Sundowns expressed their appreciation for Lorch, stating, “After unforgettable years, a league title, numerous appearances, goals, and assists, the Yellow Nation honors and thanks Thembinkosi Lorch. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.”

Throughout his time at Sundowns, Lorch secured a league title in the 2023/24 season. He contributed to the 5-1 triumph over Kaizer Chiefs, which clinched the title with six matches remaining. In that match, Given Msimango received a red card in the 19th minute for fouling Lucas Ribeiro Costa.
