Madagascar Welcomes Leaders at the 45th Ordinary SADC Summit

Antananarivo – President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa is currently participating in the 45th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government, taking place at the Ivato Conference Center in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

On Sunday, 17 August 2025, President Ramaphosa convened with fellow Heads of State for the SADC summit.

This summit is of considerable strategic significance for South Africa, which is poised to assume the Chair of SADC.

Moreover, South Africa is scheduled to host the 46th Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government in August 2026.

The theme for this year’s summit is: “Advancing Industrialisation, Agricultural Transformation, and Energy Transition for a Resilient SADC.”

Leaders will focus on bolstering regional integration through critical pillars such as enhancing industrial capabilities and regional value chains, modernizing agriculture, and promoting an inclusive energy transition. These initiatives are aimed at fostering a resilient, sustainable, and cohesive SADC region.
