Faraday Future Redirects Strategy Toward Crypto and AI as Vehicle Sales Decline

Struggling in its EV sector, financially constrained Faraday Future is pivoting towards cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence.

Summary

  • Faraday Future is moving towards cryptocurrency and embodied AI
  • The company plans to utilize its crypto treasury to draw investments and fund operations
  • So far, Faraday Future has produced only 16 units of its FF 91 model

The troubled electric vehicle startup Faraday Future is realigning its strategy towards cryptocurrency and AI. On Sunday, August 17, the firm unveiled a new treasury product alongside a refreshed focus on embodied AI.

Faraday Future is launching the C10 Treasury product, featuring a diversified collection of the top 10 cryptocurrencies (excluding stablecoins). The fund seeks to allocate 80% of its assets based on the index while actively managing the remaining 20% for improved returns.

The initial target for crypto asset investments is set between $500 million and $1 billion, beginning with a $30 million purchase. Moreover, the company expects to achieve 3% to 5% in staking yields, which will be reinvested into stock buybacks and further advancements in its core business.

Challenges Encountered by Faraday Future

Faraday Future intends to capitalize on the opportunities in crypto and AI to revive interest in its company. Its strategy is to bridge the dynamic world of cryptocurrency with the forward-looking vision of embodied AI for electric vehicles.

“The next decade could bring about an extended bull market for cryptocurrency,” stated Ian Calderon, FF Co-Creation Officer. “FF is establishing a dual-engine circular growth model that combines the enduring, high-value EAI EV ecosystem with the swift, high-velocity Crypto ecosystem. These two forces will enhance one another, transforming the future of mobility and financial innovation.”

Once considered a potential competitor to Tesla, Faraday Future is facing numerous challenges. By January 2025, the firm had delivered just 16 units of its flagship FF 91 vehicle, predominantly to employees and early supporters.
