Cardoso Praises Teamwork and Emerging Talent Following Sundowns’ Victory Over Magesi
Mamelodi Sundowns’ head coach Miguel Cardoso shared his excitement about the team’s display following their win over Magesi in the Betway Premiership match at Seshego Stadium on Wednesday night.
Thanks to performances from Jayden Adams and Peter Shalulile, the Brazilians secured a 2-0 victory, moving up to third place with a total of seven points.
Cardoso started the match with three emerging talents: Gomolemo Kekana, Kutlwano Letlhaku, and Siyabonga Mabena, commending their contributions despite anticipating a slow beginning.
“At certain moments, the bees’ efforts in the first half allow us to collect the honey later,” Cardoso remarked on SuperSport TV post-match.
“Teamwork is essential. With three young players making their debuts at this level, a gradual start was expected.

“Still, it’s all about teamwork, and we knew we had skilled players who could influence the match. We understood the significance of making gradual adjustments, taking into account the different situations and tactical frameworks throughout the game.”
The Portuguese coach expressed satisfaction with the players’ reactions, particularly regarding the young trio.
“They executed well, and I’m truly happy with the overall effort from the entire squad.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming match against Orlando Pirates on Saturday at Lucas Moripe Stadium for the second leg of the MTN8 semifinal, Cardoso stressed the importance of resilience and mental fortitude.
“We acknowledge the need for resilience and mental readiness. We must approach every match with full commitment to secure the results that propel us forward,” he stated.
“We hope to see our Masandana family filling the stadium, as their support will surely lift our spirits.”
“Similar to today, we felt their encouragement, and we are determined to perform well on Saturday. It promises to be an exhilarating match.”
