Zwane Expected to Be Out for Two Months
Mamelodi Sundowns’ manager Miguel Cardoso has announced that captain Themba Zwane is expected to be out for around two months due to an injury sustained during the MTN8 semifinal against Orlando Pirates last Saturday.
Zwane played only 14 minutes in the 1-1 draw with the Buccaneers and did not participate in Sundowns’ 2-0 Betway Premiership victory over Magesi at Seshego Stadium on Wednesday, with Jayden Adams stepping in for him.
The 35-year-old has been plagued by recurring injuries, having undergone surgery for an Achilles tear last October while competing for the national team against Congo.
The Bafana Bafana vice-captain has missed numerous matches for both Sundowns and the national team, making only seven league appearances for the Brazilians last season.

“Unfortunately, Themba is anticipated to be out for about two months,” Cardoso stated.
“However, I am confident he will return even stronger, and we’re hopeful for a speedy recovery.
“Since the start of his injury, the club has taken all necessary measures for his rehabilitation, and we remain positive about his return soon.”
The Portuguese manager highlighted that every player plays a crucial role in the club, regardless of their injury status, and the team will unite to cover for Zwane’s absence.
“Every player is integral to the club, even if they aren’t fully fit, as we understand the challenges each one faces. Nevertheless, he will come back and be on the field soon.”
The former Esperance Sportive de Tunis coach reiterated that the Brazilians will meet the challenge head-on and maintain their competitive spirit despite Zwane’s absence.
“We will step up our performance alongside the rest of the team to ensure we maintain our highest level during this period,” he concluded.
