This tragic incident occurred on the night of January 17, 2023, in Gasejane Village, Heuningvlei.

At approximately 23:50, a 36-year-old mother temporarily left her five-year-old daughter in her uncle’s care while she escorted a friend home. Upon her return, the young girl immediately disclosed that she had been raped by the accused.
Heuningvlei Rapist Sentenced to 20 Years
The 42-year-old uncle admitted to the crime and was swiftly arrested and charged with rape. After a thorough investigation and court proceedings, the Mothibistad Regional Court delivered its final ruling on August 18, 2025, sentencing the perpetrator to 20 years of direct incarceration.

The Acting District Commissioner of John Taolo Gaetsewe, Brigadier Kenneth Baloyi, praised the dedication of the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Keitshwaretswe Tshikedi, along with the collaborative efforts of the National Prosecuting Authority.
