Boyaa Interactive Allocates $33M to Bitcoin to Boost Web3 Gaming Initiative

Boyaa Interactive has boosted its Bitcoin holdings to 3,670 BTC with a $33 million investment. This strategic move strengthens the company’s significant crypto reserves as it shifts from conventional online gaming to a dedicated Web3 entity.

Summary

  • Boyaa Interactive has invested $33 million in Bitcoin, increasing its treasury to 3,670 BTC at an average price of $62,878.
  • The Hong Kong-listed game developer has exceeded shareholder mandates, requiring a special disclosure for this transaction.

In a press release dated August 25, Boyaa Interactive International Limited disclosed the acquisition of approximately 290 Bitcoin (BTC) over three weeks, totaling about $32.9 million from its internal resources.

This recent purchase, executed on regulated trading platforms, raises the online gaming company’s Bitcoin treasury to 3,670 BTC, acquired at an average cost of $62,878 per coin.

Notably, Boyaa pointed out that this acquisition necessitated special disclosure to exchanges due to its surpassing the pre-approved shareholder mandates for such investments.

The rationale behind Boyaa’s Bitcoin holdings

According to Boyaa’s press release, the firm has embraced a strategic vision in which Bitcoin is key to its transformative agenda. They view the original cryptocurrency not merely as an asset, but as a foundational element for implementing Web3 business models, cultivating ecosystems, and fostering sustainable growth.

“The acquisition and retention of cryptocurrencies form a foundational measure in the Group’s execution of its Web3 strategic transition,” the statement asserted.

This vision underscores the urgent need for strategic action in an increasingly competitive environment. Boyaa revealed a significant insight: at the start of 2024, it was among the top ten global public companies in terms of Bitcoin holdings, competing with around 60 firms.

However, the landscape has shifted dramatically, with approximately 160 publicly listed companies now possessing crypto reserves, resulting in Boyaa’s ranking dropping to 22nd globally. This trend reflects not just a corporate change but also an aggressive race for a limited resource.

The announcement warns that with Bitcoin’s “fixed total supply, available resources are continually diminishing as competitors build their reserves.” Boyaa is securing what it considers a critical strategic asset for the next evolution of the internet, before it becomes too scarce or costly.

Boyaa’s Bitcoin holding metrics

This strategic accumulation is already yielding tangible results for shareholders. The company reports that its Bitcoin holding per 10,000 shares has grown by 12.0% in 2025, now averaging around 0.0516 BTC.

This metric is significant as it directly links the company’s treasury initiatives to shareholder value, effectively giving each share a small fractional claim on the corporate crypto reserves. It reflects a modern interpretation of per-share book value, indicating a new corporate focus in the digital age.
