Durban Workplace Incident: Forklift Overturns, Results in Fatal Injuries to Operator

Durban – A devastating incident has resulted in the death of an industrial worker after his forklift overturned and fell on him.

Describing the tragic occurrence, ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson stated: “A person has lost their life in an industrial accident on Piet Retief Road in the Queensburgh area of Malvern, west of Durban, shortly before 4 pm on Monday.”

Jamieson reported that ALS Paramedics Medical Services arrived to find that a forklift had “somehow tipped over while in operation, subsequently crushing the operator.”

The spokesperson added: “Paramedics quickly assessed the driver, a male believed to be in his 30s; unfortunately, he had sustained fatal injuries, and there was nothing further that paramedics could do, leading to him being declared dead at the scene.”

He noted that the events leading up to the accident remain unclear; however, police are on-site and will be conducting further investigations.
