Newcastle Fans Erupt as WWE Star Unveils ‘Isak 9’ Liverpool Shirt During Thrilling Showdown

WWE superstar JD McDonagh fully embraced his heel persona, provoking fierce reactions from both football and wrestling supporters in Newcastle.

Under his real name, Jordan Delvin, McDonagh took the chance to tease Magpies fans by flaunting a Liverpool jersey with Alexander Isak’s name on it during the WWE event in the North East.

The 35-year-old participated in the WWE Live event at the Utilita Arena, where he made sure to jab the local fans.

A devoted Liverpool supporter, McDonagh is recognized for donning their shirt, but he heightened the provocation by revealing a Reds jersey featuring ‘ISAK 9’ on the back.

This move led to a chorus of boos from the audience, intensifying an already charged transfer saga.

As if that wasn’t sufficient, McDonagh further stirred the pot online with a video showcasing himself in the shirt, captioned #FreeIsak.

Alexander Isak has emerged as a significant figure in this summer’s transfer drama, as he looks to exit St James’ Park.

The 25-year-old has made it clear he wishes to depart Newcastle this summer, mentioning that “promises were made” by the club surrounding his transfer.

Isak has openly criticized the Newcastle management in an online statement, claiming “relationships can’t continue” and expressing that his “trust is lost”.

Alexander Isak stunned fans with a social media statement alleging that promises had been broken by Newcastle…

He stated: “I’m proud to be recognized by my fellow professionals with a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season for 2024-25.

“First and foremost, I want to thank my teammates and everyone at Newcastle United who has stood by me throughout this journey.

“I’m not present at the ceremony tonight. Given everything happening, it didn’t seem appropriate to be there.

“I’ve remained silent for a long time while others have voiced their opinions. This silence has allowed others to present their version of events, even though they know it doesn’t reflect what was truly agreed upon behind closed doors.

“The truth is, commitments were made, and the club has understood my position for quite a while.

“To act as though these matters are just now coming to light is misleading.

“When promises are broken and trust is eroded, the relationship cannot persist.

“That’s where I stand right now – and why a change is in the best interest of all parties involved, not just myself.”

However, Newcastle has held firm in their position that Isak is not on the market, even turning down a £110million bid from Liverpool earlier in the transfer window.

The club responded to Isak’s comments with their own statement, asserting that “no commitment has ever been made by a club official regarding Alex’s departure from Newcastle United this summer.”

They further emphasized that Isak will be “welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates.”

Isak is reportedly firm in his conviction that he will never compete for Newcastle again.

The forward has been excluded from Newcastle’s opening matches of the season, including a highly publicized game against potential new club Liverpool, and is training separately.

Sun Sport revealed earlier this month that Liverpool is preparing to return with an enhanced bid.

The Kop club has sanctioned a historic British-record £130m offer for Isak to resolve the ongoing saga.

Newcastle remains adamant in their decision not to sell Isak and is actively seeking to secure a new striker this summer.

The Toon Army saw a £50m bid for Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen turned down today, alongside two failed offers for Yoane Wissa of Brentford.
