KOSOMETSUKE (6.15 Southwell, nap)

This horse is ready to break his streak of near misses with a well-deserved win. Roger Varian’s three-year-old has been regularly competitive, finishing just under a length behind in tough conditions at Ascot last time. His best performances have come over this seven-furlong distance, and the quick ground is perfect for him.

FANTASY BELIEVER (8.15 Southwell, nb)

He showed great effort at Chepstow during the Racing League night earlier this month, coming from several lengths back. Though he occasionally stalls at the start, stepping up from 1m2f should suit him here. He won this race last year and stands a solid chance again with just a 3lb increase in weight.

HERCULEUS (6.25 Newbury, treble)

He has relatively low mileage and showcased his talent with a convincing win at Nottingham two runs ago. He finished strongly over the mile on good ground there and seems primed for further improvement. After a respectable fourth at Goodwood, where the track didn’t suit him, this more traditional course should work in his favor.

PADDY’S DAY (8.45 Southwell, Lucky 15)

He shines on all-weather tracks, with seven of his eight wins coming on the sand. This season, he has claimed victory five times, including a strong showing against tough competition at Newcastle three runs ago. He performed admirably from a challenging draw at Goodwood last time and appears formidable at this mark, especially with jockey Alex Jary taking off a valuable 5lb.
