Japanese Gaming Giant Gumi Adopts XRP for Treasury Management Strategy
The Japanese gaming company Gumi has made a notable foray into the crypto treasury realm by investing $17 million in XRP.
Summary
- Listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Gumi has purchased $17 million in XRP for diversifying its treasury.
- This gaming developer is aligning with a trend among public companies that are integrating XRP into their financial strategies.
Gumi, a game developer listed in Tokyo and backed by the investment giant SBI, has selected Ripple’s XRP (XRP) for its crypto treasury. The firm disclosed on August 29 that it had acquired about $17 million in XRP, initiating its accumulation of this digital asset.
This initiative will enable Gumi to gradually collect Ripple’s native token in the coming months, supplementing its previous acquisition of Bitcoin (BTC). Earlier this year, the company purchased 80,352 BTC, valued at approximately $6.7 million, and is also implementing strategies like staking on platforms such as Babylon.
Investing in XRP forms part of Gumi’s broader crypto strategy, aimed at capitalizing on opportunities within the blockchain ecosystem, as stated by the company.
“By contributing to the growth of the XRP ecosystem—integral to the international remittance and liquidity network strategy largely promoted by SBI Holdings—we aspire to enhance revenue prospects in this sector,” they noted in a post on X.
Everything Blockchain Drives XRP Strategy
XRP is emerging as a prominent altcoin, garnering greater interest from public companies implementing treasury strategies.
On August 29, Everything Blockchain collaborated with VivoPower to utilize Flare Network for its XRP strategy. Everything Blockchain confirmed it has established a memorandum of understanding with Flare to explore yield strategies associated with XRP.
VivoPower recently disclosed a $100 million XRP deployment via Flare, and Everything Blockchain intends to seek similar yield opportunities involving the Ripple cryptocurrency.
“Our objective is to unlock the true financial utility of digital assets like XRP, not just as speculative items but as yield-bearing instruments that can offer compounding advantages over time,” remarked Arthur Rozenberg, CEO of Everything Blockchain. “Flare provides us with the framework to achieve this while adhering to the governance, security, and audit standards vital for public companies.”
Companies such as China’s Webus International, Trident Digital, and Nature’s Miracle have also recently adopted XRP treasury strategies. These advancements align with Ripple’s efforts to expand its global footprint following a lengthy legal dispute in the United States.
