SA Coach Strengthens Lesotho’s Technical Team Before Bafana WC Qualifier

An important milestone for Lesotho’s national football team, Likuena, has been achieved with the hiring of a South African coach.

Abram Mongoya, the former head coach of Upington City, has officially become a part of the technical team as they prepare for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying matches, according to Sportswire.

His wealth of experience will be crucial for Likuena as they prepare to take on formidable foes in crucial encounters.

The timing of Mongoya’s involvement is significant, as Likuena is scheduled to clash with Bafana Bafana next Friday, followed by a match against the Benin national team on September 9.

The World Cup qualification journey will wrap up in October, featuring matches against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

With a rich coaching history, including experience with teams like Bantu Football, Chippa United (as an assistant), Acornbush United (as an assistant), and Tuks Academy U15, Mongoya is poised to make a meaningful impact on Likuena’s objectives.

Prior to his time at Upington City during the off-season, Mongoya successfully led Kruger United to a commendable fifth-place finish in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.

His contract with Likuena will extend beyond the World Cup qualifiers, as he will also be involved in scheduled international friendly matches in November.
