Binance and Other Exchanges Introduce WLFI Token Trading
On September 1, World Liberty Financial’s WLFI token officially debuted in trading, as Binance and several other major exchanges list this asset following its token unlock.
Overview
- WLFI spot trading is now available on Binance and various other exchanges due to the token unlock event.
- 20% of presale allocations are currently accessible via Lockbox, with future distributions contingent on community votes.
- WLFI’s stablecoin is expanding to Solana, boasting a market cap of $2.2 billion and multiple ecosystem integrations.
On September 1, Binance announced the initiation of WLFI spot trading at 13:00 UTC with trading pairs WLFI/USDT and WLFI/USDC. Deposits began earlier, while withdrawals will open on September 2. This launch broadens WLFI’s availability beyond the pre-market futures that had been accessible on Binance and Hyperliquid (HYPE) since late August.
Exchanges like Bybit, OKX, KuCoin, Gate.io, MEXC, Bitget, BingX, and HTX are also listing WLFI, ensuring its widespread availability across centralized platforms. Newly launched futures products offered traders early market exposure, with WLFI priced around $0.27 before today’s official launch.
WLFI Token Unlock and Governance
The exchange listings coincide with WLFI’s first unlock event. Early investors from presale phases priced at $0.015 and $0.05 can now access 20% of their allocations, corresponding to approximately 5% of the total supply of 100 billion tokens. The remaining 80% will be allocated over time based on governance votes.
A smart contract system called Lockbox, audited by Cyfrin, manages this distribution. It was launched on August 25, giving token holders a week to prepare for trading. Investors must activate their Lockbox to claim their unlocked allocations.
A core aspect of WLFI’s framework is community governance. Token holders have a say in project funding, unlock schedules, and Treasury management. In July, an overwhelming 99% of voters supported transitioning WLFI from a purely governance token to a fully liquid asset on Ethereum (ETH).
USD1 Expands to Solana
Alongside WLFI’s launch, World Liberty Financial announced that its stablecoin, USD1, is now operational on Solana (SOL). Pegged to the U.S. dollar at a 1:1 ratio, USD1 has reached a market capitalization of $2.2 billion in under 90 days, positioning it as one of the fastest-growing stablecoins.
The launch on Solana includes collaborations with Bonk (BONK) for token issuance, Kamino Finance for lending and borrowing solutions, and Raydium (RAY) for trading liquidity. With USD1 entering the marketplace alongside other stablecoins, Solana now has $11.9 billion in circulating stablecoins.
Political and Regulatory Context
WLFI has attracted attention beyond cryptocurrency markets due to its links with the Trump family. Concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest have surfaced, especially following the enactment of the GENIUS Act, which sets regulatory guidelines for digital assets in the U.S.
While exchange support gives WLFI immediate liquidity, its political ties introduce a layer of uncertainty concerning its regulatory future.
