Moscow’s Public Transport Joins in Victory Day Celebrations

Moscow – The public transportation system in the city has a rich history of taking part in events that celebrate Victory Day.

This year, a wide range of commemorative and themed activities has been arranged for passengers using the Moscow Metro and at various locations within the public transportation network.

To mark the occasion, Moscow’s public transportation staff will distribute over 8,000 St. George ribbons—an emblematic symbol of Victory.

These ribbons will be accessible at Live Communication kiosks in the metro, at the Northern and Southern River Terminals, as well as in street parking areas, designated parking spots managed by Moscow Parking, and on selected routes in the city’s surface transit system.

Special emphasis has been placed on enriching the infrastructure’s decorations.

The Trubnaya station has been festively decorated for Victory Day for the third year in a row: the ceiling vault is embellished with St. George’s ribbons and artistic elements that honor this important date.

The themed decorations create a celebratory ambiance for passengers and serve to remind everyone of the significance of this historical event.

Moreover, a special themed train celebrating Victory Day has started running on Line 3.

This train features orange, red, and blue colors, symbolizing the courage and unity of the people.

The train cars include themed decorations and messages dedicated to the Great Victory.

The train will continue to operate on the line until June 22.

“Each year, the capital’s transportation system engages in Victory Day events,” said Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

“This year, our teams will distribute St. George’s ribbons at various points across the transportation network.

“We are also upholding the tradition of station decorations and launching themed trains to honor the memories of our people’s heroic endeavors and create a distinctive atmosphere for passengers.”

Throughout the holiday festivities, security measures will be intensified in public transportation.

Passengers are encouraged to be understanding of the enhanced security protocols, to remain vigilant, and to follow the regulations pertaining to public transportation use.

Victory Day, observed annually on May 9, is one of Russia’s most significant national holidays, commemorating the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in 1945 during World War II.

This day marks the official end of what is known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War, a period characterized by immense struggle, sacrifice, and resilience.
