Durban City Nedbank Cup Victory Parade: Confirmed Route, Schedule, and Details
The eThekwini Municipality has revealed that Durban City, the recently crowned Nedbank Cup champions, will celebrate with a trophy parade on Wednesday.
Farook Kadodia’s squad has made history by winning the Nedbank Cup, overcoming TS Galaxy at the Peter Mokaba Stadium nearly two weeks ago.
This feat makes them the first club from KwaZulu-Natal to clinch the competition, securing a place in the CAF Confederation Cup in the process.
The R7 million reward linked to the Nedbank Cup title is anticipated to aid the club’s travel expenses for international tournaments.
Additionally, they have ended a 17-year trophy drought for clubs in KZN, with Golden Arrows being the last to celebrate their MTN8 win.
“The City invites both the media and the public to partake in a historic celebration, as Durban comes alive to honor their newly crowned Nedbank Cup champions, Durban City Football Club,” stated the eThekwini Municipality.
“Following their significant success in one of South Africa’s premier football tournaments, the champions will parade through Durban’s streets on Wednesday, 13 May, starting at 12:30.
“The parade will kick off at King Dinuzulu Park and make its way to Moses Mabhida Stadium, allowing football fans and locals to celebrate alongside the team as they prominently display the Nedbank Cup trophy.
“Attendees can expect a vibrant atmosphere filled with excitement and lasting memories as the city unites to honor a team that has brought pride and recognition to Durban.
“The event is anticipated to attract thousands of football enthusiasts eager to witness the trophy presentation and celebrate this incredible accomplishment.
“The City encourages residents to line the streets of Durban and join in what promises to be an unforgettable celebration of sporting excellence, unity, and community spirit.”
Durban City was also acknowledged by the KZN Sports Department during a gala dinner at the Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani on Sunday.
