ISCA Forms Taskforce to Improve Financial Reporting and Strengthen Investor Confidence
SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 11 May 2026 – The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) has launched a new Taskforce focused on improving financial reporting and enhancing investor trust in Singapore, in response to growing demands for corporate transparency, strong financial controls, and trust in capital markets.
The Strengthening Financial Reporting Taskforce was unveiled today at the ISCA Value Unlock Forum, organized in partnership with the Singapore Exchange (SGX). Led by Ms. Euleen Goh, ISCA Distinguished Lifetime Member and Chairman of the Singapore Institute of Management Group Ltd, the Taskforce will gather leaders from diverse sectors such as business, finance, academia, and investor groups to assess Singapore’s financial reporting landscape and recommend enhancements to the quality, integrity, and utility of corporate disclosures.

The establishment of the Taskforce comes at a crucial time as Singapore ramps up its efforts to strengthen capital markets and improve the overall business environment. Recent national initiatives, including the Accountancy Workforce Review Committee and the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s Equities Market Review, have highlighted the importance of robust financial reporting, professional expertise, and investor trust.
This launch also aligns with ongoing discussions aimed at reducing compliance burdens for smaller enterprises, as indicated by ACRA’s review of Singapore’s audit exemption framework. Regardless of future changes to this framework, upholding strong financial reporting practices, capable finance professionals, and effective financial controls is essential for sustaining confidence among investors, lenders, and stakeholders.
The Taskforce will explore ways companies can better communicate their financial performance, business risks, and long-term value creation to investors and stakeholders. It will also evaluate how Singapore can maintain its high standards in governance, transparency, and accountability in a rapidly evolving business environment.
Ms. Euleen Goh, Chairperson of the Strengthening Financial Reporting Taskforce, remarked: “Financial reporting has always been the language of business. As markets evolve, it must provide clearer and more actionable insights to stakeholders who rely on it. The Taskforce will carry out a comprehensive and practical evaluation of how Singapore can elevate its standards, enabling companies to convey their value and insights with the clarity and confidence that investors and the market expect.”
The Taskforce includes notable figures from the financial landscape:
- Mr. Liew Nam Soon, Deputy Regional Managing Partner, EY Asia East; Managing Partner, EY Asean; Managing Partner, EY Singapore & Brunei
- Mr. Leong Yung Chee, Group CFO, United Overseas Bank Limited
- Professor Lawrence Loh, Director, Centre for Governance and Sustainability, NUS Business School, National University of Singapore

Ms. Cyndi Pei, Chairperson of ISCA Academy, commented: “As stakeholder expectations evolve, finance leaders must increasingly articulate performance, risks, and value creation with clarity, credibility, and context that extends beyond merely reporting results. ISCA Academy is committed to supporting the profession and the broader market by developing the practical skills necessary to enhance trust, transparency, and confidence in Singapore’s capital markets.”
