Two Ex-NBA Players Charged in U.S. Sports Betting Probe

Former NBA players Malik Beasley and Edward Davis, along with sports agent Paolo Zamorano and three others, have been charged by federal prosecutors for their participation in an illegal sports betting scheme.

The charges, announced on Monday in Brooklyn, New York, indicate that Beasley and his former teammate Davis worked together to either enhance or diminish their performance in games related to betting metrics, according to U.S. officials.

This case is part of a broader investigation into the sports industry that has already resulted in charges against NBA player Terry Rozier and MLB pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz.

Beasley’s lawyer, Stephen Haney, reported that he has examined the indictment and expects Beasley to turn himself in to federal authorities by Wednesday.
