England Star Djed Spence Says Tearful Goodbye to Tottenham After Sealing £30 Million Move to Inter
Djed Spence has shared that Tottenham will always have a unique place in his heart after his £30 million move to Inter Milan.
At 26, Spence has been a regular starter for Spurs in the past two seasons and even emerged as an unexpected star for England, playing a pivotal role in the team finishing third in the 2026 World Cup.
However, with Pedro Porro securing the right-back spot under Roberto De Zerbi, and Andrew Robertson along with Destiny Udogie vying for the left, Tottenham decided to leverage Spence’s market value this summer.
Inter officially announced his transfer on Saturday evening, paying £25.6 million initially with an extra £4.3 million in potential add-ons.
However, the significant announcement was delayed until Spence shared an emotional farewell on social media, honoring Spurs’ Europa League final win against Manchester United in 2025.
He posted on X: “A special chapter comes to an end. It’s been a remarkable journey filled with memories, moments, and experiences that I will cherish forever, especially that night in Bilbao.
“Thanks to all the staff members who supported me along the way, the players who became like family, and most importantly, the fans.
“It’s time for a new chapter, but Spurs will always hold a special place in my heart. COYS!!”
Tottenham purchased Spence for £20 million from Middlesbrough in 2022 after a standout loan at Nottingham Forest.
The full-back struggled to establish himself in North London and was loaned to Rennes, Leeds, and Genoa, with his momentum continually stalling.

Spence began to find his footing at Spurs in 2024, making a total of 79 appearances over the last two seasons.
Now at Inter, after a brief period away from Italy, Spence is excited to showcase his development in Serie A.
