Titus Reveals the Key Factors that Led to His Successful Transfer to North Africa
Devin Titus said an emotional farewell to Stellenbosch FC after an incredible six years, stating that he attributes his professional football career to the Western Cape club.
Moroccan titleholders Maghreb Association Sportive de Fès (MAS Fès) triggered the release clause in the 25-year-old’s contract to secure his services for the 2026/27 season.
Titus leaves Stellies as a revered figure in their history:
- Appearances: 176 (2nd all-time for Stellenbosch FC)
- Goals: 36 (2nd all-time for Stellenbosch FC)
- Final Game: Scored in his farewell match against Polokwane City.
“Saying goodbye to Stellenbosch FC is a deeply emotional experience for me,” Titus shared in his farewell interview on the club’s website.
“This club has played a pivotal role in my journey to becoming a professional footballer, and I am eternally grateful. Nonetheless, I eagerly anticipate my new adventure with MAS Fès. As the champions of Morocco and one of Africa’s leading clubs, I am excited to embrace this new challenge and test my skills at this level.

“There’s never an ideal time to leave a club like Stellenbosch, but I always felt it was crucial to depart after ensuring that I left the club in a stronger position. We’ve achieved amazing things together, and last season, I couldn’t just walk away when relegation was a concern. Staying to support the team meant a lot to me, and I believe I succeeded in that regard.
“This will be my first time playing outside of the Betway Premiership, which presents an excellent opportunity to experience playing in a different country, to compete in the Champions League, and to strive for success at the pinnacle of African football. I aim to represent my club proudly abroad.”
After making his professional debut with Stellenbosch in 2021, Titus went on to clinch the Carling Knockout in 2023, where he was named Player of the Tournament due to his outstanding performances. He also played a key role in the club’s historic qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup and reaching consecutive MTN8 finals.
“I never imagined achieving everything I have with Stellenbosch,” he reflected. “From starting with the reserves, winning the DDC and Next Gen, making it to the first team, winning the Carling Knockout, and competing in the Confederation Cup has been an incredible journey for me.
“A memorable moment was the match against Cape Town City in 2023. We found ourselves in a difficult league position, trailing two-nil. I remember coach Steve [Barker] reminding us of his mantra: we do not lose derbies.
“Playing at home, I scored two goals that secured a 3-2 victory. From that moment onward, our league position improved. That match was a foundation for us, and in many ways, it was a turning point for me. It’s a cherished memory among many others. Reflecting on it stirs so much emotion, as it has truly been an extraordinary journey.”
Titus received the internal Young Player of the Season award at Stellenbosch in 2023, the Players’ Player of the Season accolade in 2024, and the Golden Boot in 2025. He has also become a standout example of the club’s development pathway, rising from the reserves to a pivotal first-team player.
“I have always strived to represent myself well through humility and hard work,” Titus stated. “People have remarked that I have represented the club admirably because of this, but these are simply my values, and I’m fortunate that Stellenbosch embraces these ideals. It has been a perfect fit for me.
“The community, the town, and the people all contribute to making Stellenbosch a fantastic place. Whether at home, in Cape Town, or anywhere across the country, our supporters were always there for us. I will cherish the steadfast support they offered me.
“Many individuals have played a part in my journey at Stellenbosch, from coaches and staff to fans, contributing in both large and small ways, and I want to extend my gratitude to them all, along with my family and friends who supported me throughout.”
“One day, I hope to return to the club after fulfilling my aspirations to give back to the youth and the community. It would mean a great deal to reciprocate the support I received from those who have done so much for me. I owe my journey to Stellenbosch Football Club.”
