OCJ Warns Public of Scam Involving Impersonation of Acting Judge President Nhlangulela

Pretoria – The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) has issued a warning to the public about a person impersonating Acting Judge President Zamani Nhlangulela of the Eastern Cape.

“The OCJ has been made aware that someone is posing as Acting Judge President Zamani Nhlangulela, who presides over the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court,” the OCJ stated on Sunday, 23 August 2026.

“As per the information received by the OCJ, this individual has been sending WhatsApp messages pretending to be Acting Judge President Nhlangulela, using a profile photo that resembles him.

“The mobile number associated with these messages is 072 910 6073, which is listed on WhatsApp under the name ‘Acting Judge President Zamani Nhlangulela’.”

The OCJ has cautioned the public against becoming victims of this impersonation and emphasized that misrepresentation of facts, knowing they are false, to the detriment of others constitutes fraud.

“The issue will be reported to the appropriate authorities for further investigation,” the OCJ remarked.
