Hisense’s Latest FIFA World Cup Film Features The South African Dad Central

Johannesburg – In the early morning of a typical workday, a father is already on the move.

The day starts at home, with a father and his young son washing their taxi together.

It’s a familiar scene: water, soap, conversation, and the customary act of readying the vehicle that will soon transport passengers throughout another workday.

However, within this simple interaction, something larger begins to unfold.

For numerous South African parents, these everyday occurrences are rarely labeled as sacrifices.

They are merely part of being present: working, providing, educating, and creating opportunities for the next generation to dream bigger, reach further, and envision possibilities beyond what came before.

This emotional truth lies at the core of Hisense South Africa’s new FIFA World Cup campaign film, Every Journey Leads to a Dream.

As an Official Sponsor of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Hisense could have constructed a narrative around stadium lights, famous athletes, or the cheering of a crowd.

Instead, the brand opted for something more personal and distinctly South African: a taxi driver, his son, and a quiet moment spent washing the vehicle that symbolizes both his father’s livelihood and, ultimately, the path to his son’s dreams.

Filmed throughout Johannesburg and Soweto, the film chronicles the father’s ordinary workday.

During this day, his son notices the FIFA World Cup branding wrapped around the taxi.

Curious and wide-eyed, he runs his hand across the logo and inquires whether the tournament is really as monumental as people claim.

Then comes the line that truly captures the essence of the story.

“One day,” the boy expresses, “I want to play there.”

His father refrains from delivering a grand monologue. He does not guarantee that the journey will be smooth.

He simply offers his son what so many children need the most: belief.

“Ngelinye ilanga uzofika lapho,” he tells him. One day, you will arrive there.

“Never stop dreaming.”

It’s a seemingly small moment, yet it carries the significance of countless South African families.

The parents who rise early.

The fathers and mothers who journey great distances.

The caregivers who stretch, strategize, work, and hope in the background so their children can envision opportunities ahead of them.

“The father emerged as the emotional anchor of the film very early on because his narrative resonates with so many South Africans,” stated Luna Nortje, Deputy General Manager at Hisense South Africa.

“Across the nation, parents rise each day and quietly do what is necessary for their children to have more opportunities than they did.

“This campaign aims to highlight that type of love, the kind that does not always call attention to itself, but quietly manifests every day.

“As a brand, Hisense wanted to honor those everyday journeys and the dreams they make possible.”

While the film is grounded in football, its message transcends the field.

It conveys the universal aspiration parents hold for their children: to have the courage to dream, the support to persevere, and the belief that their origins do not define their potential.

The film serves as the emotional heart of the campaign.

The broader campaign provides this emotion with something tangible to stand upon.

Through retail activations, community initiatives, and youth-oriented experiences, Hisense extended the message beyond the screen, inviting South Africans to participate, play, learn, and envision what their next journey might look like.

During the FIFA World Cup season, Hisense infused the campaign into HiFi Corp and Incredible Connection stores with its Match-Ready Gallery promotion.

Customers purchasing qualifying Hisense televisions, Laser TVs, refrigerators, or freezers could scan a QR code displayed in-store, upload a photo with their product or proof of purchase, and showcase how they were preparing for the tournament.

Their photos became part of the Match-Ready Gallery, with Hisense prizes awarded throughout the campaign.

Foosball games and football-themed activations enhanced the environment in participating stores, providing families and shoppers a way to join in the excitement of the tournament together.

Beyond retail, Hisense expanded the spirit of the campaign through its Hands on the Future initiative, focused on young South Africans whose aspirations extend beyond the football pitch.

A group of young footballers from Khayelitsha traversed Cape Town in a convoy of branded Hisense taxis.

Their first stop was the Hisense Atlantis Factory, where they observed advanced manufacturing processes and were introduced to career possibilities they may not have previously considered.

Next, the group journeyed to Table Mountain. As they gazed across Cape Town, each child was posed a simple question: “What is your biggest dream?”

Some aspired to play for Bafana Bafana, while others expressed ambitions to become doctors, teachers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders. Varied dreams, but the same underlying need: access, encouragement, and someone willing to believe alongside them.

At the Hisense Tevolution Museum, the children explored the history of display technology and contributed to creating a new community mural.

The program culminated where many of their dreams began: on a football field.

In collaboration with Pitso Mosimane Youth Football, Hisense supported ten local teams representing around 160 young players.

The teams were provided with new football kits, equipment, and professional coaching access, competing for the Hisense Future Trophy in a community tournament.

For Hisense, this translated the campaign into practical significance.

To tell a child to dream carries greater weight when there is a place to play, equipment available, a coach to guide them, and a community willing to support them.

In Every Journey Leads to a Dream, the father may not know precisely where his son’s dream will lead.

What he does know, however, is that belief is crucial.

A few words shared on an ordinary morning can linger in a child’s heart for years.

“Ngelinye ilanga uzofika lapho.”

One day, you will get there.

And perhaps this is the true strength of the campaign: it’s not just about the thrill of the FIFA World Cup, but also the reminder that behind every dream, there is often someone making that journey possible long before the world takes notice.
