Southampton Considering James Ward-Prowse’s Emotional Return, Only Three Years After Selling Him for £30 Million
SOUTHAMPTON is exploring the option of re-signing James Ward-Prowse to the club.
The ex-captain of the Saints, now 31, left St Mary’s following their relegation in 2023 to join West Ham in a £30 million deal.
Ward-Prowse accumulated 410 appearances for Saints, having entered their academy at the age of eight and devoted two decades to the club prior to his exit.
The midfielder has just one year left on his contract at the London Stadium and could potentially be allowed to leave for a nominal fee.
Ward-Prowse is reportedly earning around £50,000-a-week in the Championship, which might present a challenge for his former club.
Nevertheless, the ex-England player is said to be open to a return to the south coast.

Ward-Prowse was not part of the West Ham squad in their 4-1 Carabao Cup triumph against Southampton on Tuesday evening.
In other developments, Southampton has secured a deal to sign German defender Keven Schlotterbeck.
The Saints will invest approximately £4 million to acquire him from Bundesliga club Augsburg amidst interest in Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
Harwood-Bellis has been left out of Southampton’s past two matchday rosters after the club rejected offers from Benfica and, more recently, Aston Villa.
