Official Category 2 Funeral Honoring Justice Fikile Eunice Mokgohloa

Pretoria – President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that the late Justice Fikile Eunice Mokgohloa will receive a Special Official Funeral Category 2 tomorrow, Saturday, 29 August 2026.

Justice Mokgohloa passed away on 20 August 2026 at the age of 65.

In a statement issued on Friday, 28 August 2026, the Presidency remarked: “President Ramaphosa extends his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late judge, who served our nation and the judiciary with honor, integrity, and commitment for the past 20 years.”

Since June 2019, Justice Mokgohloa held the position of Judge at the Supreme Court of Appeal, having previously served as the Deputy Judge President of the Limpopo Division of the High Court.

Additionally, she also acted as Deputy President of the Supreme Court of Appeal.

President Ramaphosa has lauded Justice Mokgohloa for her significant contributions to the judiciary and jurisprudence, stating: “Judge Mokgohloa leaves us at the height of her dedication to the rule of law and the effective administration of our courts.

“Her legacy is firmly established in the numerous landmark rulings she rendered and her outstanding judicial leadership.

“May her soul find eternal peace.”

Justice Mokgohloa will be laid to rest in Pretoria.

Vincent Magwenya, the President’s Spokesperson, confirmed that the funeral service will commence at 07h30 tomorrow, Saturday, 29 August 2026, at the Hillsong Church in Wonderboom, Pretoria.

“The Special Official Funeral Category 2 will include ceremonial details provided by the South African Police Service,” noted Magwenya.

“President Ramaphosa has instructed that the National Flag be flown at half-mast at all flag stations until tomorrow evening, Saturday, 29 August 2026.”
