Aston Villa’s John McGinn Avoids Card for Kick to Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori’s Face
JOHN MCGINN evaded a yellow card during Aston Villa’s encounter with Arsenal after hitting Riccardo Calafiori in the face.
The two teams clashed at a renovated Villa Park on Monday, where McGinn and Calafiori collided in the first half.
The Scottish midfielder was in the Arsenal penalty area, striving to take control of the ball.
Nevertheless, Italian Calafiori was present to defend and clear it away.
At only 24 years of age, he courageously leaned his head towards the ball just as McGinn’s foot lifted to reclaim it.
However, instead of cleanly connecting with the ball, McGinn’s boot hit Calafiori directly in the face.

Fans on social media reacted with frustration over this decision.
One user commented, “Dangerous play by John McGinn from Aston Villa. Riccardo Calafiori took the brunt of it.”
