Spiro Appoints Ram Ramanathan as New Group Chief Financial Officer
Dubai – Spiro, the foremost electric mobility company in Africa, has today revealed the appointment of Ram Ramanathan as the new Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Ramanathan brings with him three decades of global finance and general management experience from various multinational corporations and large diversified enterprises.
His extensive career includes expertise in strategic and operational finance, M&A, capital raising, treasury management, corporate governance, financial transformation, and performance management across a variety of markets and sectors.
Prior to joining Spiro, he held prominent finance leadership positions at IFFCO Group, Landmark Group, and PepsiCo, accumulating a wealth of knowledge over his three-decade tenure in strategic finance, M&A, treasury, transformation, and governance.
Throughout his career, he has engaged with over 90 countries, led 22 cross-border transactions, and facilitated more than USD 5 billion in equity and international debt financing.
As Group CFO, Ramanathan will oversee Spiro’s financial operations and contribute to the company’s long-term financial strategy as it continues to grow throughout Africa.
His duties will encompass financial planning and performance, capital allocation, treasury, governance, and financing, all while reinforcing Spiro’s ongoing investments in its vehicle, battery-swapping, manufacturing, and energy infrastructure.
Ramanathan’s onboarding aligns with a pivotal moment in Spiro’s growth, following a series of important financing achievements.
In 2026, the firm successfully secured USD 270 million in equity to facilitate its expansion in Africa and has recently obtained additional debt financing, which includes USD 18 million from the Africa Go Green Fund.
These investments will drive Spiro’s ongoing expansion, localize its value chain, and foster the development of its manufacturing and battery-swapping infrastructure across the continent.
Anant Badjatya, Group CEO of Spiro, stated: “Ram offers a significant wealth of financial and strategic leadership that will be invaluable as Spiro continues to expand.
“His background in capital markets, M&A, treasury, and transformation will enhance our financial capabilities and support the next phase of our growth across Africa.
“As we persist in investing in our operations and infrastructure, his expertise will be crucial in ensuring we scale sustainably.”
Ramanathan, the newly appointed Group Chief Financial Officer of Spiro, expressed: “Spiro has established an extraordinary platform at the convergence of mobility, energy, and technology, with the scale and vision to fundamentally transform transportation across Africa.
“I am thrilled to be joining the company at such a significant juncture in its journey.
“My primary goal will be to strengthen the financial capabilities, governance, and capital structures that can sustain Spiro’s continued growth and translate its considerable operational momentum into sustainable long-term success.”
