Max Verstappen Claims Victory at Bahrain GP After Lengthy Delay Caused by Weather and Technical Issues
MAX VERSTAPPEN emerged victorious amidst a powerful thunderstorm, considerable delays, and an unusual formation lap, marking his first win of the season.
The Dutch racer exhibited remarkable poise to fend off the unyielding championship frontrunner, Kimi Antonelli, during the closing laps, particularly after a safety car was deployed with only three laps left.

Hamilton executed an impressive comeback following technical issues during the formation lap and a tyre mix-up, finishing third behind Antonelli.
Initially starting from second position on the grid, he found himself in 17th place when the race finally got underway.
It was a disappointing day for George Russell, who suffered his fourth DNF this season due to a power unit failure.
This incident may have jeopardized his hopes for the championship this year.

RAISING THE BAH
What led to the delay of the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix?
The chaos began even before the race, as light rain transformed into a torrential thunderstorm, resulting in a postponed start.
When the formation lap finally began, technical setbacks struck, with Hamilton and Verstappen among those who nearly halted on the circuit.
Hamilton returned to the pits, where Ferrari personnel helped restore his car to its original second-place starting position.
During this upheaval, Lando Norris faced a significant scare at Turn 13 but managed to regain control after briefly going off track.
This led to another delay as F1 officials confirmed that the initial starting order would be upheld.
The race faced yet more delays and ultimately began after several laps behind the safety car, a staggering ONE HOUR and 40 MINUTES later than intended.
Verstappen remained steady as Antonelli took the lead once the race was underway, with Russell managing to pass as well.
Ferrari misjudged their tyre strategy, resulting in Hamilton dropping back to 10th position while Charles Leclerc settled in 11th.
A safety car was brought in on lap 9 due to Valtteri Bottas spinning into the gravel, prompting pit stops for the leading drivers.
At the restart, thrilling wheel-to-wheel action ensued between Antonelli and Verstappen as they approached Turn 1, where the Dutchman expertly maneuvered around the outside to seize the inside position at Turn 2.
True to his skill, Verstappen accelerated through Turn 3 to take the lead, with Russell also overtaking Antonelli.
Hamilton showed remarkable form, climbing six positions in just six laps.
This raised speculations about how Hamilton would have fared had he started on intermediate tyres.
A moment of tension for Antonelli occurred when he veered wide at the final corner and grazed the pit entry bollard, but he managed to emerge unscathed.
With 20 laps left, Hamilton advanced to sixth place and recorded the fastest lap of the race while narrowing the gap to Hadjar.
The Virtual Safety Car was deployed on lap 43 when Alex Albon reported issues with his gearbox, requiring him to pull off the track.
Verstappen pitted from the lead, closely followed by Hadjar.
The excitement peaked as Verstappen’s 10-second lead evaporated when the Safety Car was introduced, necessitating a recovery vehicle to clear Albon’s car that was stuck in gear.
This provided Mercedes with a chance to mount an attack on the four-time world champion, Verstappen.
Russell then faced problems as he stopped on the track, leading to further turmoil as Norris ended up in the gravel at the first corner.
This blunder knocked Norris down to 11th, and he struggled to reclaim positions afterwards.
The race resumed with just three laps remaining, with Verstappen quickly pulling ahead of Antonelli.
The atmosphere was electrifying as Hamilton executed an outside overtaking maneuver on Hadjar to secure the final podium spot, completing his remarkable comeback.
However, Hamilton could not close the gap to Antonelli as Verstappen claimed victory in Malaysia.
This win marked Verstappen’s first victory here since 2017, his second career win at the circuit, making it even more gratifying this time around.
