The girl’s mother appeared in the Atlantis Magistrate’s Court following her arrest. A representative from the National Prosecuting Authority, Eric Ntabazalila, confirmed her court appearance.
The identities of both the girl and her mother are protected by law to prevent further trauma to the child. The proceedings have been postponed until Tuesday, May 19, with the mother kept in custody.
